When out filming in public, public liability insurance is needed because there may be an event that a mistake is made which causes an injury to a member of the public or damages their property. I am going to ensure that i have public liability insurance so that there will be no issue when we are filming or taking photos in public.
Copyright and trademarks -
Copyright is protecting things that are created by a person and that person has invested time, money and skill into this product. Most published work will have a written permission of the copyright holder. This law is to protect an individual persons work/articles. I am going to make sure my magazine front cover and everything inside has copyright so that nobody can copy the work of my magazine.
Ethical issues -
Are moral principles that can define how a person or group acts. These include trust, liability, truth, privacy and serving the publics best interests.
The sales of good act 1979
The Sale of
good act 1979 requires all goods to be described as satisfactory quality and
fit for purpose and use. This means they can be used for everyday purpose and
any purpose that was agreed with the seller.
ASA – Advertising regulatory system
The UK advertising regulatory system is a mixture of:
- Self-regulation for non-broadcast advertising
- Co-regulation for broadcast advertising
All rules are enforced by the ASA.
ASA guidelines stands for the Advertising standards authority. They are the UK’s independent regulator for advertising across all media. There work includes acting on complaints and checking the media to take action against misleading, harmful or offensive advertisement, sales promotions and direct marketing. Each year they consider 30,000 complaints and 20,000 adverts.
For any advertisement that is inside my magazine is going to be approved by the ASA too ensure that the guidelines and standards are met.
This act makes it an offense for a trader to make wrong statements about goods or services. It is an offence to:
- Apply a false trade description to any goods
- Supply or offer to supply any goods to which a false trade description has been applied
- Make certain kinds of false statement about the provision of any services, facilities or accommodation
Standards

UK standards
are regulated by the BSI (British Standards Institution). Any products that
meet this standard can then be marked with the KiteMark.
There are separate standards for the European union.
